| Check
Panels for colour and pattern fit prior to installation.
Some patterns repeat randomly, and some colour variation could
occur between batches. Red arrow denotes top of sheet. If colour
varies do not install sheets. Contact your supplier immediately. |
Measure
for plumbing fixtures Measure out from the inside corner
panel and from the bath, basin or bench edge to each fixture.
Transfer these measurements to the face of each panel. |
Cut
or drill holes Using these marks as guides, cut or drill
holes large enough to fit over fixtures. Check panel for fit.
These holes will have to be siliconed once installed
to prevent moisture from entering from behind the sheet.
|
Draw
a reference line
Using a spirit level, draw a horizontal line at an easy working
height (corresponding to a horizontal tile line) on each wall
to be panelled. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Mark
the panel
Always work from the reference line down. You may have to trim
the bottom edge of the panel to match your bath, vanity or floor
levels.
NB: Never install Ceramilite below a tile or finished
floor level. |
Cut
panel with a fine tooth handsaw (panel face up) or a circular
saw (panel face down). After cutting check panel for fit before
applying adhesive. Never force panels into position - leave
3mm between panels for Ceramilite 100% Silicone Sealant. |
Adhering
panels to POROUS wall surfaces:
Use trowelling method for porous wall surfaces, e.g. concrete
walls. Trowel adhesive to the back of panel and wall area with
a 3/16" (5mm) notched trowel. Apply only enough adhesive
on the wall to cement one panel at a time. Panels should be
braced until adhesive sets - refer adhesive manufacturer's recommendations.
Ensure adhesive
is compatible to the waterproofing membrane in your installation. |
Adhering
panels to NON-POROUS wall surfaces:
Use cartridge method for non-porous walls, e.g. ceramic tiles,
compressed board. Load adhesive into caulking gun and apply
a 6mm bead to back of panel in a continuous 'S' pattern with
rows approximately 100mm apart.
The adhesive should be at least 50mm from
the edge of the sheet and finally a silicone bead must be
applied to the outer edge of the sheet. Ensure adhesive is
compatible to the waterproofing membrane in your installation. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Apply
panels to wall surface pressing panel into place with
the palm of your hand ensuring proper adhesion. Do not use
screws or nails. Always leave a 3mm gap between panels, shower
base and bath. When caulking with Ceramilite 100% Silicone
Sealant, do not allow the silicone to come into contact
with adhesive,as this will cause discolouration of the
silicone. |
Sealing
joints and gaps
Always use Ceramilite
100% Silicone Sealant to seal joints, gaps and edges and around
plumbing fixtures. Place masking tape along edges of area to
be sealed. Cut silicone nozzle to desired size; 3mm for vertical
joints; 4mm for corner joints and around baths, vanity units,
etc. Push silicone into the joints and seams from the bottom
up. Plumbing fixture holes must be sealed thoroughly. Remove
masking tape carefully. Ensure easy release masking tape is
used. Some masking tapes will remove paint if left for long
periods. |
Remove
excess sealant
Wet finger with liquid detergent or white vinegar and firmly
wipe off excess silicone sealant between joints. To remove any
other excess silicone sealant on panels use a mineral spirit
type solvent such as turpentine. When wiping out excess silicone
ensure you have clean hands and never use saliva on your finger
as mould will occur. |
Clean
panels with mild detergent and water - do not use abrasive
cleaners. Protect silicone from abrasive products and cleaning
methods. Always reseal with Ceramilite silicone to maintain
and adequate level of protection. To maintain warranty on Ceramilite,
regular inspections and maintenance must be carried on the silicone
seals. |
